Graphic Logo Design

This Graphic Designer's 'I Love NY' logo quickly spread across the state via tons of bumper stickers, t-shirts and buttons. It was a phenomenon of epic proportion. An entire generation will quickly know his design that shows a singer in profile with rainbow hair drawn as bolts of lightning.

Anyone who owns vinyl records from the 60's probably has one or two of his famous designs right in their own home. His widely-known work is known to millions of people, even if his name isn't, but does this mean it is to be considered art? If you were to ask him he would refuse to even discuss the art vs. design debate. He says it is a moot point because the word shouldn't be used at all. In a recent interview, the designer said we could all benefit from removing the word 'art' and replacing it with the word 'work.' If a work proves to be very, very good, we can then refer to it as a great work. If it hits its mark, it can be referred to as 'good' and if it fails, call it 'bad'.
