Cadillacs come in three different versions - the four-door sedan- CTS (C-Series Touring Sedan), STS (Seville Touring Sedan), and Cadillac DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan).
Cadillac Sedans
The CTS helped launch the Cadillac brand's popularity among the younger generations throughout the 90's and the early part of the twenty-first century. It is the smallest of the Cadillac models, but boasts a very powerful 3.6 liter V-6 engine. In fact the 2008 model has been tested at 258 horses and 252 lf-ft of torque! First revealed at the North American International Auto Show in January 2007, the 2008 CTS will be available by the end of the fall.
Optional features will also include swiveling headlights, along with Bose premium audio, remote start, and iPod integration. The STS has a 3.6 L High Feature LY7 V6 engine, with 255 hp. It also comes as a 4.6 L Northstar LH2 V8, and with 320 hp. The remote ignition is standard, while the 300-Watt Bose stereo system with MP3 is optional. The DTS goes still higher in defining luxury and has safety features like eight airbags, and Xenon high power headlamps; it has superior luxury features like leather seating, and power seats - both of which are standard.
Optional features include navigation system, MRC (magnetic ride control), for a smoother ride, as well as a moon roof, chrome wheels, heated/cooled seats and a heated steering wheel. All these features are bound to make the mundane business of driving pure pleasure.
Cadillac SUVs
The famous Cadillac Escalade is a full size SUV, which competes directly with Ford's Lincoln Navigator, which was released in 1998. The Escalade features an all-aluminum 6.2 L Vortec V8 with Variable Valve Timing, and produces 403 hp of power and 417 lb of torque. It comes with rear wheel drive, as well as an all-wheel drive. While the ESV is a stretch version of the standard Escalade, with more room at the back, the EXT is a pickup truck and features a "Convert-a-Cab" composite pickup bed.
The EXT, along with the CTS, was featured in The Matrix Reloaded chase scene, which helped boost sales for the company and cement it's standing among the Hollywood elite.
The SRX is a mid-sized crossover utility vehicle, featuring five, as well as six speed automatic transmission. The V8 has a 4.6 L 320 hp engine, and has heated front seats and wood interior trim as standard features. Available options include DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a foldable third-row seat.
For those who have a need for speed, Cadillac offers the XLR, which is a 2-door coupé convertible. It can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, and hit 100 mph in just 11.3 seconds. Reaching upward of $100,000 with upgrades, this is the most expensive car from the GM stable.
